Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage is part of your auto insurance coverage unless you specifically waive the coverage. Uninsured coverage applies when the at-fault driver has no liability insurance. Underinsured coverage applies where the at-fault driver’s liability insurance is insufficient. Essentially, this is coverage contained in your own auto policy that insures you, and often your family members and/or anyone injured in your vehicle, if the at-fault driver cannot cover your damages.
